"We have used Dorothy for tutoring 2 of our children and both of them improved immensely in the subjects she taught them. I am very happy with Dorothy’s teaching. She is more than happy to give extra help when needed. I would highly recommend her tutoring." - P D

English Literature IGCSE (0486) Cambridge International Examinations

From the CIE course syllabus:
"Cambridge IGCSE Literature (English) aims to develop learners who:
-  enjoy the experience of reading literature
-  understand and respond to literary texts
in different forms and from different
    periods and cultures
-  communicate an informed personal
    response appropriately and effectively
-  appreciate different ways in which writers
    achieve their effects
-  experience literature’s contribution to
    aesthetic, imaginative and intellectual
    growth
-  explore the contribution of literature to an
    understanding of areas of human
    concern."
The groups I currently tutor are  studying from an anthology of poetry, an anthology of short stories and two plays. We are studying a J.B. Priestley play and one by Arthur Miller.

Students aiming to cover this specification within one academic year will need either to already have their English Language IGCSE or be preparing to sit it at the same time as the Literature IGCSE. They will need excellent reading and writing skills as well as analytical ones. It’s vital that they enjoy reading!

See this Facebook group I set up for those studying for English exams.
